Top 3-Month Performers

This list ranks liquid PSX companies — market cap above Rs 1 billion, plus a minimum daily volume filter — by price return over the trailing three months, roughly sixty-three trading sessions. The figure is a price return only: dividends are excluded. Stocks whose price history contains an unadjusted corporate action or a suspect price print inside the window are removed before ranking, because a split or bonus issue can masquerade as a huge percentage move; a nightly data-quality guard flags those gaps so they never reach the table. The list is rebuilt after every trading session and the window rolls forward with it. A quarter is long enough to reflect a genuine earnings surprise or a sector re-rating, but short enough that one news event or a thin small-cap squeeze can dominate the ranking. A quarter of outperformance is a fact about the price, not a fact about the business. It tells you the market has re-priced something, but not whether earnings, margins or dividends justify the new level. Read the latest quarterly result and any material announcements on the stock page first, and treat a rally with no visible earnings support as speculation rather than a trend.

Three things. Whether the latest quarterly result and payout actually support the move; how the valuation compares with the sector median shown on each stock page; and how much of the gain came in a handful of sessions, which usually points to a single catalyst rather than a re-rating. Position size matters more here than on value screens — crowded momentum reverses sharply.

Three things can keep a stock off this table. It may sit below the Rs 1 billion market cap floor or under our minimum volume filter, so the price is not reliably tradable. Its price history may contain an unadjusted split, bonus issue or bad print inside the window, in which case our nightly data-quality guard excludes it rather than publish a return we cannot verify. Or it simply ranked outside the cut — the table is capped, so a strong quarter can still fall short. We would rather show a shorter, honest table than a headline number produced by a corporate action.

Top Gainers measures a single trading session, so it is dominated by same-day news and can look completely different tomorrow. Top 1-Year Performers measures twelve months and shows the market's longer-term conviction. This list sits between them at one quarter — long enough to filter out daily noise, short enough to show what is working now.

No. This is a pure price return, so any dividend paid during the quarter is not counted, and a stock that went ex-dividend inside the window looks slightly weaker than a shareholder actually experienced. To approximate a total return, use the ex-dividend amounts that actually fell inside these three months — not the full trailing yield on our Highest Dividend Yield screen, which covers twelve months and would overstate a quarterly figure roughly fourfold.
