01—Market snapshot
Total leverage, margin, futures OI, and short positioning across the exchange.
Leverage is the borrowed money inside the market. On the PSX it flows through the Margin Trading System (MTS) and broker Margin Financing (MFS) — regulated facilities that let investors carry positions larger than their cash — alongside deliverable futures and disclosed blank (short) sales. Rising leverage amplifies both rallies and drawdowns, which is why professionals track these NCCPL and PSX feeds daily. No other free PSX platform publishes this series.
As of 18 Aug 2026, market-wide financing stands at Rs 37.70B across MTS and MFS, spread over 361 leverage-eligible symbols. Total leverage sits at the 43rd percentile of its trailing year (up 8.1% over the past month).

Frequently Asked Questions
Margin Trading System (MTS) lets investors buy PSX shares with borrowed funds against eligible securities. The market MTS figure is the total open financed position across all MTS-eligible scrips, reported daily by NCCPL.
MTS (Margin Trading System) is exchange-run leveraged buying; MFS (Margin Financing System) is a separate financier-provided margin product. Together they make up total market margin exposure.
Futures open interest is the value of outstanding deliverable futures contracts. Blank (net short) sales are same-day short positions in the Deliverable Futures Contract market — a gauge of bearish positioning relative to open interest.
Neither by itself. Rising leverage means more borrowed money is carrying positions — it amplifies rallies while sentiment holds and deepens drawdowns when it turns. Professionals read the level against its own history (the leverage cycle) rather than as a one-day signal.
Daily, from NCCPL (MTS, MFS) and PSX (futures open interest, blank sales) reports after each trading session. Settlement concentration has its own page, updated on the same cycle.
